Making Time Count

Making Time Count

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Making Time Count

A sunny afternoon stroll.

Sharing a special meal.

Taking all night.

Having a love, real.

When little things mean much,

Love always abounds.

Perfection is unknown,

Making time count.

A touch of the hand.

Exchanging knowing glances.

Laughing that brings tears.

Believing in second chances.

Life’s amazingly short,

Love with every ounce.

Wait not until tomorrow,

In making time count.

I feel sometimes like the bunny in Alice in Wonderland...

"The Queen of Hearts will surely chop off my head, look at the time... I'm late!!!"

You are welcome dear Melinda.
Indeed, life is amazingly short. Tragically, many don't realize that until they have wasted much of their time. The things you mention here are the things that really matter.

sure enjoyed the setting and scene you capture McQueen ;) it a youthful love that is preserved if two are willing .. so easy to become just a touch jaded and faded over time :( poems like this one .. give this ol' man a positive boost in reading .. i am in love with love .. no doubt about it and there is never enough of silly love songs eh!? V2 L1 .. i keep wanting it to read When little things mean SO much, ..not sure if its syntax or rhythm that makes me want to ... i notice also in V2 you detoured from the rhyme scheme .. i like it ... it reminds me of Emily's sort of rebellion ;) what a delightful read for me this afternoon ... i don't always visit at this time of day but my routine is an apple cart lately ... some afternoon delight seems quite a lovely idea :)

Dear Melinda, time becomes even more precious with age. Yes, make each second count sharing it and doing things which give you joy with loved ones and friends.
