The Unbroken Horse

The Unbroken Horse

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Unbroken Horse

Running wild and free,
he was a beauty.

A white Mustang

With a strong, powerful frame.

Long and flowing was his mane,
having no name.

He was ever in the wind,
the unbroken horse knew no end.

For he roamed the lands,
near the river did he stand.

Strong and majestic, he drank to his fill,
the cool water at his will.

The sun shone on his snow-white coat,
never brushed, except by the breeze untold.

His gallops are as his heartbeat,
the sound in his ears repeats.

A steady rhyme,

his soul in time.

For his years are his own,
his journey through the great unknown.

Content, ever so satisfied,

a sparkle in his cream-colored eyes.

Such a beautiful force…
the unbroken horse.
