With You on My Mind

With You on My Mind

 

I woke this morning

With you on my mind.

So, I sent up a prayer,

Asking God to keep you in His might .

 

Midday I thought of you,

Wondering if you were okay.

So, I uttered your name to God once more,

Then went about my day.

 

A little later, I thought of something you said,

And it made me laugh outright.

Then, I wondered again why I spent the day

With you on my mind.

 

When my day was done,

I picked up my phone and gave you a call.

When you answered, I was relieved

To hear your voice after all.

 

You said you were feeling down,

And that you’ve had a rough time; then, you said,

“I’ve been missing you and I’ve been here

With you on my mind.”
