If Roses Had Souls

If Roses Had Souls

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

If Roses Had Souls

Elegantly, the rose blooms,

From a tiny seed.

In rich soil it sprouts

Leaves of green.

Little by little,

A bulb takes shape.

A crown of glory

Protecting its name sake.

Nourished with water and sunshine,

It soon opens, petal by petal to unleash

All it’s fulfilled purpose.

All it’s meant to be.

Bloomed in its final state,

It bestows beauty unto the world.

If roses had souls,

They would be happy girls..

For they would know their worth,

Made for a purpose that dwells.

The beauty of creation

Forever to tell.

Roses bring out the best in people,

Their mere presence makes others smile.

Soaking up the glory of the sun,

So to bloom all the while.

Born to instill the blessings

Only they can bestow.

How beautiful would this world be

If roses had souls.

Roses are beautiful Melinda, but as I read your poem I thought of all the women in the world who don't bloom. Who live with the fear of violence and death. They never reach their full potential. Thank you for sharing your poetry.

Yes, and this is sad. We should help one another to bloom. Thanks for your review.
