Coming King

Coming King

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Coming King

(A Villanelle poem)

The day is ever nigh.

It creeps upon timely things,

Coming unto this life.

It rushes in full sight,

Even as angels sing.

The day is ever nigh.

Sweeping in power on high,

On the move, is the King.

Coming unto this life.

None shall no more self-rely,

For there’s a new beginning.

The day is ever nigh.

The Lord will arrive

With healing in His wings,

Coming unto this life.

What a day, what a time

That will bring!

The day is ever nigh,

Coming unto this life.

When I was a teenager in the 60's, we use to sing a song in church with these lyrics:
What a day that will be
when my Jesus I shall see,
When I look upon his face
the one who saved me by his grace
When he takes me by the hand
And leads me through the promised land
What a day, glorious day that will be

The song was written by Jim Hill. It has other special lyrics too.

I do love that song, I mean, it sounds like I've heard it.
