The Flight of the Heart

 

Flying by the seat of its pants,
it goes for a ride.

Seemingly solo, it takes on the world,
one day at a time.

 

Trudging through ups and downs,
its course often changes marks.

Soon, it finds itself in peril--

the flight of the heart.

 

Hitting and missing,

still, it braves the waves.

Bobbing with the current,
the wiles of life does it face.

 

Even in darkened times,
when the ache threatens to never part…
a power within, it abounds--

The flight of the heart.

 

Though it breaks
and sometimes loses its way,
it finds strength to sustain,

To venture to brighter days.

 

Going forth into greater depths,
it realizes that its light shines grander in the dark.

Never alone, never on hold--

The flight of the heart.
