My Creative Babies

My Creative Babies

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

My Creative Babies

I mold you

Until you begin to take shape.

I ponder what you’re meant to be,

And how much you’ll gain.

I plan step by step

To form you just so.

However, in the beginning,

I let you take control.

I think of you morning and night

While I’m in bed.

Thoughts of how to direct you

Fill my head.

I dress you

With words that spring you up--

Words that give you life.

To fill waiting cups.

I give you attention

Until you start to breathe

A life of your own,

Though you use my heartbeat.

I give you a name

Which suits you best.

Happily, I share you with others,

Hoping they will be blessed.

I give birth to you

With every word I write indeed.

For to me, you are more than novels,

You are my creative babies.

Nice to meet you, Melinda. I am also in a chair with screaming all-over pain, all the time, so writing is also my sanity & instills my will to keep on battling thru all this. I've self-published a few & my earliest books are pretty rough, but I still love them as much as my recent books. I think about rewriting the early ones, but I don't becuz that's where I was at, back then. It's okay to be on our way, gradually. Love how you express you pride in your "babies" (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
