Goodnight, Slumbering SunA Poem by Melinda McQueenGoodnight, Slumbering Sun
The water flows The quiet way it goes. Stretched overhead Is the sky sending the sun to bed.
Lowering at a pace Seasoned in God’s grace. Calling for a day done, Today’s victory come.
Birds come lap in the cold water, Existing to glorify the Father. Flying through the sunset, Honoring the glory of rest.
Colors fill the open sky With orange and red, a blended sigh. The water calm Makes for a soothing balm.
Glorious in sight, Calling forth arresting light. A breathtaking view From the heavens true.
Down into the deep, It retires to sleep. Goodnight, slumbering sun, For morning’s soon to come.
