Light Unto Sunflowers

Light Unto Sunflowers

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Light Unto Sunflowers

Allegory Poem

Planted were the seeds
wrapped in bad soil… incomplete.

But nourished with refreshing rain,
the seeds began to gain,

Little by little, the seeds began to sprout,
yellow flowers bloomed with a shout.

For they were coming into their own,
sensing their source which upon them shone.

Instinctively drawn to the sun,
their substance desired since they’d begun.

Hyper unto its light,
they grow in plain sight.

The sunflowers open toward the sun itself
by which comes their wealth.

A tender agreement made
betwixt flowers and sun in trade.

Sunflowers rise and reach the light
though come they from low seeds of tiny might.

But remembering from where they come,
they know their need for the sun.

Created to be…
raised up to glory.

Alive unto a new day,
ever to live in wondrous array

The light brought them forth,
giving life to their lowly form.

Now complete in new soil, provided with an escape,
Light unto Sunflowers--the light shines the way.

A wonderful poem for the Sunflower plant. The sunflower healed the soil and she is so beautiful. Thank you dear Melinda for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.
