From Shadows to Light

From Shadows to Light

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

From Shadows to Light

In the shadows she stayed,
not to be seen.

Though she could see the light from afar,
she didn’t know how to be.

She wanted much,
though it was the little things
her heart needed.

She didn’t know how to be.

The light shone,
but she was in the shadows.

Left to her own devices,
how to be, she didn’t know.

Shades of grey
surrounded her completely.

Light seemed to fade…
she didn’t know how to be.

Noticing one day
the shadows began to recede,
though she looked ahead,
she didn’t know how to be.

Still standing in place,
she could still see the shadows
though they were dissipating.

How to be, she didn’t know.

So, taking a deep breath,
she stepped out of the shadows
and into the light.

Faith wanted to know.

Dear Melinda. I liked the use of description.
"So, taking a deep breath,
she stepped out of the shadows
and into the light.

Faith wanted to know."
The above lines stayed with me and the complete poem. Outstanding.

You are welcome dear Melinda.
Such an emotional read here, I can feel this write, I agree with John the Baptist said below as well. Nicely written and expressed.

Thanks for the review. Much appreciated.
A good lesson here. Sometimes the shadows envelop us because we let them.
