Surviving Heartbreak

The day was cool,
the breeze only made it colder.

Walking along the beach,
in her heart felt like a boulder.

So much weighed on her,
remembering a long ago time.

She wished she could go back
to yesteryear when he had been by her side,

The sky turned orange,
the end of a gorgeous sunset.

She remembered clearly,
the day they met,

He was special,
unlike anyone she’d ever known.

He was different than most,
the truest love had he shown.

As memories ran through her mind,

A breeze suddenly danced in her hair.

For an instance,
she felt him there.

Grateful for the time they’d shared,
she knew she had to go on with her life.

A smile kissed her face,
heartbreak she had survived.

I loved the above lines and when love touches us. A blessing. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
