A Gingerbread ChristmasA Poem by Melinda McQueenA Gingerbread Christmas
There once lived a man in a house made of gingerbread. Having built it a year ago,
Not knowing what else to do, Soon, he’d made a window where he’d
partaken,
However, he grew hungry again, He’d eaten to his fill,
Bundling in blankets, Then, his stomach began to growl,
This time, he ate a little, For it would soon be Christmas Day,
When Christmas Morning came, Feeling now unfamiliarly warm,
The walls of his house Had he dreamt up this tale? He thought, What a disgrace!
Shimmering from the blankets, No one ever comes… what could it be?
Shuffling across the dirt floor, On the stoop lay a loaf of
gingerbread,
Picking it up, he dusted off the snow
Thanks for the
gift,
he whispered, for he would have
