The Long Shadows

The Long Shadows

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Long Shadows

Grey stretching across,

Attempting to consume.

Overhead they loom,

Though at a loss.

Etching further still,

They seem to wall in

As gloom is sent

Beyond one’s will.

But atlas, the light shines forth

Unto the hearts of men.

Shrinking the greys with force,

Unlimited is the supply.

The Light shall reign in

The long shadows by and by.
