On This Side of Heaven

On This Side of Heaven

 

Angels kept watch

As the new baby slept.

Recognizing Him,

They wept.

 

Oh the sight…

How new it must have been

To see the Lord

On this side of heaven.

 

At first, something felt off,

And quite odd.

How could a tiny babe

Hold the great big God?

 

So out of place

In a world that didn’t know Him.

How they must have been mesmerized

On this side of heaven.

 

To the world He was brand new,

But the angels knew who He was.

Rejoicing in splendid wonder,

The angels’ praise were joyous.

 

Feeling His glorious Spirit,

The angels bowed again.

Emmanuel in the flesh,
On this side of heaven.
