A Stationary Life

A Stationary Life

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

A Stationary Life

Long arms stretch to the sky,

Reaching way up high.

Through a thousand rainstorms,

It doesn’t become forlorn.

Through the years in age,

It remains the same.

It’s paper leaves come and go,

Some travel where the wind blows.

Still, it stands tall,

Refusing to fall.

Resilient in all beauty,

It’s there to be seen.

Its strength grows upwards,

Even in rains hard.

Knowing it’s where it’s meant to be,

It refuses to retreat.

Dwelling in its place,

It finds grace.

Having grown into maturity,

It is wholly complete.

Sometimes it’s good to be still,

Producing a strong will.

Being happy where we’re planted,

Taking nothing for granted.

Praising God on high

From a stationary life.
