The Sea

The Sea

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Sea

Joy comes in waves,

So too, does despair.

Mixed together

Everywhere.

It envelopes,

It moves along.

It’s wild.

It enfolds.

Through ages,

It keeps pressing.

Not deterred,

Aims for the shore.

There, it foams

In white puffs.

The pow’r behind

Has faithfully pushed.

He is there,

Creator of it all.

He sees,

He calls.

He longs

To take despair

And give joy

Unyielding in His care.

Calming the sea,

Waters He stills.

He’s listening,

Ask what you will.
