Nailed to the Cross

Nailed to the Cross

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Nailed to the Cross

Nailed to the cross,

He took sin and shame.

Taking the fall,

He endured pain.

Having communion

With the Father of life,

He came to live,

He came to die.

Living sinlessly,

Jesus made His mark on the earth.

Blameless in every way

From His miraculous birth.

Nailed to the cross,

He could have called on the Father,

And a legion of angels would

Have come to Him without falter.

How His heart

Must have broken in two

Not to have communion

With God true.

Though He cried

When God had to look away,

On the cross,

He remained.

Nailed to the cross

Were our sins in Christ’s body.

Not only His hands and feet,

He bled for our eternity.
