Unstill

Unstill

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

Un/Still

We are business-like with our words, contractual

And seething with empty promises,

When once we moved the distance

With our own definitions

Un/still

From one novelty of cherry-flavored French kisses

To youth’s dynasty of blush,

When once we cured our phone-sex machinations

The excitement contained in just the rush

Un/still

Our day’s arrival, sequel to old verves of touch

Now almost empty, survival in the mud

Breathing fish lips shaped with “O’s”

Sucking in African heat, shock-valued and frozen woes

Un/still

Waking in the midst of a theft, in their delight,

The light removed of its power on the night’s

Cloaked deceit of cleaver’s heart

One tender meat, a yellow lark’s song starts

A promise to keep / the music of our Wheel

Un/still

Unheard in evening chill

Unfulfilled / a world of weeping children taken

Woeful wailing of angels : a mother’s soul slain

Distilled within Las Vegas neon rain,

Empty roads,  and flocks of dead birds on the highway railing,

As though flight were hung to dry

like an after-thoughtless / laundry pile

Dreaming of oceans…breathing…

inhaled.

Yearning to feel alive

With new worlds’ steel / stampeding guns

Evolutionary gills…to swim with rewound skills…

                        Darkened will / undone

Only Recollections once / memory forcibly breathing…

Exhale self / if love defeated

All rivers still...

Underwater. Undertow.

Life.

See

How cups overflow.

Hope unstill

       with truth to fill.

The infinite wheel : our mouths saying "Oh".
