You Must Be... A Friend

You Must Be... A Friend

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

You Must Be / A Friend
Category: Writing and Poetry

i wonder how your birthday suit would taste

on groundhog's day,

i query how cool your hands could be

in a peppered mood

still, i think of you my favorite

friend and infliction of my eyes' leisure

where i'm bound to hold

my timid tongue's tangerine truths

when i wish to say the darker twisted things

i dream of, on rainy days

when you smile

i do not notice the fray or grey...

you must be / my friend

because you are wanton with your secrets

spilling them like pink lemonade

down your neck / tar / over skin

down to your encompassing pectoris

you must be because you laugh and agree

with everything /  with nothing

with me

when i cut opinions in the kitchen

you slap my a*s at my logic,

push away my myopic oppressions

listen to my day-dreams' yiddish

cry honestly / open on your doorstep

drenched in autumn's grey...

you must be, for you take me in,

my refuge with golden looks...

but what if i no longer gaud the blues of my soul?

it may spoil our Nestle conversations, watching stars...

if i spill it, that i travel with a complicated circus

you may revel in its irrelevance

you may condemn me

for my pastel persuations in sheets,

my silent crimes i commit in my head

to thwart you in a wonderous war of flesh & guns...

so keep me,

a yoke in this egg-fragile poem of ours

for what is a good friend, if not to learn by

or grow with / to argue & frogspit...

to just be close

a simple symbiosis of beliefs & times

you look me in the eyes

even when i cry

you must be

a friend

of mine....

Wow! I wouldn't know where to start....though this is probably my favorite part:

when i cut opinions in the kitchen

you slap my a*s at my logic,

push away my myopic oppressions

listen to my day-dreams' yiddish

Everything about this poem is excellent as is the other poems of yours I've read.

Nice! I like how to explained alll the different aspects of what a friend is. Nice use of poetic devices and well done. It was interedted reading the poem since it had "/" in it. Made it quite original. I enjoyed it!
