Like It or Not

Like It or Not

A Poem by Vincent Cuccolo

Like It or Not

I trip over the same footsteps

Look the other way with all my might,

As another exit flies on by

Refusing to deviate

Refusing to move on,

Because getting over you is a risk I don’t want to take

These lips will remain puckered

Day and night

Whether you like it or not

Passion to passion

Lust to lust

I’m a mountain of persistence

Try and move me if you can

You elude the truth

Afraid that I might finally be

That one skip in the beating of your

Rebellious heart

And you might be cool on the outside,

But honey,

You're a solar flare on the inside

Melting from the heat

FROM ALL THAT I CAN OFFER

Play the fool as much as you want

Hardy-har-har

So funny, but so wrong

Stone-cold wrong

A reality check just waiting to happen

The cameras will refocus

Whether you like it or not

And it’ll be me you see center-stage
