The Pain Tree

The Pain Tree

A Poem by Vincent Cuccolo

I know sometimes I collide

Into the better half of myself

Entangled by the roots of this pain tree

Tearing down my divine sky

And every security you so unknowingly bestow onto me

I know sometimes I should know better

When I toss and turn at night

THESE VOICES I CREATE

That pickpocket every hour

And suddenly change your face

I know sometimes the pressure builds

As we lock horns yet again

And saving me is all you yearn

But behind these walls, I know

Only you can heal these tears that burn
