Crippled Ever After

Crippled Ever After

A Poem by Vincent Cuccolo

Tranquilizing rejection hits

Pinpoint precise

The way you use that sniper’s scope

Wasting no time to make me bleed

The love so preciously churned

I kick the truth

Right in the jewels

Where the sun don’t shine

Giving denial the coldest of shoulders

You clearly haven’t met

The ice age of my stubbornness

I’m stranded in loneliness

A COMPASS I DON’T KNOW HOW TO FOLLOW

The vitality of your winds

My sweet momentum

Left me as fast as you walked out that door

The kisses that are deflected

A ricochet of hurt

Why aren’t I good enough?

My every move

A wrongful trespass

In your lost, misguided eyes

A grave was dug for our love

Before it even had a chance to breathe

What madness is this?

The fear that lobotomizes you

Has made you into a sluggish sin

A mindless drone

This crippled ever after

Reigns supreme
