If Things Were Simple

If Things Were Simple

A Poem by EquivalentExchange
"

But they simply aren't.

"

Somtimes it gets cold here

more often, than not

sometimes your love gets old here

more often, than not

If things were simple

I'd take your hand

but that's not even an option

we've moved past that

and into this foreign land

where you and I are strangers

we don't speak anymore

We don't even know each other

when you your hand

used to be so comfortable

I spend my days praying

you spend yours with the drink

more often, than not

You used to be so beautiful

so ask me now

what do I think?

We used to be in love

we used to be the best

and I tried to hold your heart

from the very begining

but you became a thief

and took that all away

Tell me, can you love?

do you love me anymore?

you reply, drink in hand

maybe, if things were simple
