Implusive

Implusive

A Poem by Stephen

When we do went in the woods,

Like teenagers running off into the sunset,

Holding each other’s hands,

Not caring about any threats.

We sat on an old log,

As we discussed our future like we had a clue,

Turing a blind eye to the clock,

Even after the sky turned dark from the vivid blue.

We slept on each other’s laps,

Like we had been together for years,

Before one of us snaps,

Running away with tears.

Everyone knew this isn’t going to last

As we thought,

Like a weather forecast,

As reliable as our afterthoughts.

When we do walk out of the woods,

Each on our separate path

Thinking about our childhoods

Turned ourselves into psychopaths

We did delve into our hot bath

Together but miles apart

Unable to bear the aftermath

Our feeble hearts.

We met the next day,

In school,

Eyes fixated on each other, ignoring the Milky Way,

Wishing the events were April fools.

As we finished the day,

Walking out, fingers intertwined

With each other’s - reading each other like X-ray

As we climbed together onto the bed.

I truly believe that love you had in high school
was the truest
because it held so much innocence
lacking the awareness you gain as adult
that takes away from your light
and ability to do as you please

bravo i love it
