Simple Legacy

Simple Legacy

A Poem by Duncan Alexander Scott Nankervis
"

To be remembered.

"
Legacy: -D. A. S. Nankervis

I desire. I do indeed.
I have these wants. We all do, you see?
To aspire, to become, to immortalize myself,
Whilst hiding my feelings on a dusty shelf.
I do not do, I only think,
But in not doing, my ships of ideas sink.
Pointless it is, to think but not do.
But that does not make my desires less true.
What do I desire? This simple simplicity,
I wish to be as immortal, as this mortal could only be.

YES in fact, I can relate. Okay, one of the reason why this poem got to me is because I have a thing for dusty shelves. They're such simple images but they hold truths in all their dusty glory. This poem conveys the message clearly, and it conveys the message that we all want; to be immortal. Great writing. :)
