Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day

A Poem by Prynka

I learnt the meaning of admiration
When I first saw you
A reflection of my mother
Someone who pointed to the sky
And showed life is much more than my
cocoon.

As a child we spent many vacations together
The walks, the talks, the bus rides ,
The grand cooking spree in Grandma’s kitchen
To the curiosity to find what’s in your suitcase
All these seem just like yesterday

You are the one whom I wanted to be
Your looks, your style, your attitude
From dabbing your makeup to using your hair brush
All I wanted it to be you

You could raise a brow
Many days I practiced in front of the mirror
Finally I could one day
Oh such a copycat I was

You smiled I copied your smile
You burped and I copied the same
Your shoes and bags I borrowed
Your sarees I stole

Dear Masi(aunt),
Your presence means so much to me
When I saw you being a MIL
I thought mine would be the same
When I saw your being a grandmother
I thought my child would have the same
Such a big bubble I was in
And when it popped
Among very few people I have
You also stood to gather the pieces

Thank you for being there
And wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day !
