Dream walk in a vineyard.

Dream walk in a vineyard.

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt
"

This is for my friend and the love of her life. Her Knight in shiny armour if you will...

"

Please don’t stop

With the random newspaper clippings

And the whispers of your name on the phone

I may not need a reminder of where you are

Because you are always right underneath the surface

Of all of my waking moments.

Even still, please don’t stop.

Please don’t take me wrong

I wish I could see your face every morning

But since I can’t I guess I have to read the articles

About your neighborhood and hear songs

That were written  about what my subconscious

Tells me is true.

And dream of your home on the beach

And the life you have made without me.

I have always felt you, you know

Even before I knew that you were something my fingers wanted

And I have always wanted you

Even when I couldn’t tell.

I wish you could hear my calling

And see my eyes turn red

And feel my arms around you

Instead of going with the cryptic.

I know you can’t but I want you to

I want you to be here with me

Buying me dinner, and holding my hand

I want you here when I can’t sleep

To whisper me to dream land.

I want your promises that someday

I won’t have to beg for you

And I want your arms around me, more than anything else in the world.

But you can not do anything

But send me stuff from one sleeping mind to another

So send me the junk mail from your hometown

And have strangers call me at work that utter your name

Please don’t stop until you can offer me more than this

Until then, I will hoard all of the scraps of visions

Until I can clearly look you in the eyes.

Beautiful!! The imagry is stunning and the way you use the language is perfect. The style you use works very well for the idea, each line is well-crafted. It reminds me a little of Sylvia Plath's work, the less depressing ones at least. Very nice!

A wonderful form to this poem, a pleading love. Powerful and passionate. It holds a promise of loss and hope simultaneously. Another wonderful read.
