This Cruel World

This Cruel World

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

Never let your dreams be taken in vain...

"
Such a soul cannot exist under the agony
Blunt-force trauma for the docile and naive
Such indecision is a strange disease
yet the cowardice spreads day after day

Feel the pain upon losing the last chance
Oh, cut out your heart...
This cruel world glares upon us all
Never let your dreams be taken in vain...

In the death of the old fashioned romantic
A tombstone lies for the pathetic corpse
The apocalypse brews with deadly intent
wiping away all hope for the rapture

Feel the pain upon losing the last chance
Oh, cut out your heart...
This cruel world glares upon us all
Never let your dreams be taken in vain...

Under lock and key, the steel tongue
will never kiss your wounds
The rage of this sullen God may strike
but the heart is deceitful above all...

Wow. Very passionate and bold. I love the last verse:
'Under lock and key, the steel tongue
will never kiss your wounds
The rage of this sullen God may strike
but the heart is deceitful above all...'
Beautifully written as usual.
