Our World

I've always considered writing songs - specifically rhyming verses and a chorus since music is an amazing form of expression that I could not live without. So, here's my first shot at that...

It's in the air, it's in my veins.

It cascades through me like a pouring rain.

You'll never know how much I care.

I wanna let you know, but I wouldn't dare.

Just to be with you, I'd give my soul.

We'd fill our voids, and make them whole.

We'd fly away, just you and me.

But through these cloudy eyes you'll never see.

We'll never be

So close, yet so far you see...

In my world, we share every day

But in this world, we're just too far away.

 

Your touch, so tender like a butterfly

Your reach, so far I feel I could die

Your kiss, makes me feel I'm alive

But the distance makes me wanna break down and cry

Tears of sorrow stream down my face

Longing for our never embrace

Let's leave this world, so dark and dreary

And create our own where you are near me

i've tried to write a song before --didn't work, gonna keep trying! hah
i wanted to read this because of the title "our world" i thought it was gonna be one of those, hey the world sucks right now we all gotta work together to save it type things...cus well ive written one myself and wanted to compare.
but your poem was a pleasant surprise :)
a beautiful remedy of a heart longing for the love they can never have.
i think, if this were a song, which it is ofcourse, it'd be really catchy.
id love to hear a recorded version of it? i'm a singer, but im terrible at making up my own tunes to songs!

I couldn't figure out exactly how it's sung (music can be like that when there are no notes) so I tried reading it aloud in a kind of poetry slam kinda way and that seemed to work well. You should try recording it sometime, so we know how it goes.
