Darfur

Darfur

A Poem by Bethany Woody

There is a land
In western Sudan
And they call it Darfur.

A place unforgiving
A place of hard living
Many do not survive.

Droughts, desertification,
And overpopulation,
Have things out of control.

A war of ethnicities
Created duplicity and autrocities
And no one can survive.

Reminiscent of Hitler
People feel littler
Just for being themselves.

Mass graves hide
Nothing short of genocide
Murder hard to survive.

So we see the SLMA
Trying to save the day
But it’s a difficult fight.

The JEM in the mix
And Resolution Seventeen oh six
Hope to survive.

The Janjaweed instigate
A serious level of hate
And the world finally sees.

Stand and raise a voice
Stand and make a choice
And peace may survive.

Author's Note

Bethany Woody
The autrocities committed in this country are so horrific they make me sick. I have seen pictures of children who have starved to death, pictures of piles of bodies set afire, pictures of mass graves. Why? Seriously why? Just because someone is diffrent then you. What a pathetic reason to kill.
