Moving Forward

Moving Forward

A Poem by Bethany Woody

I created walls all my own
just so you could tear them down.
Locked myself deep inside of me
but you found me anyway.

I walked around wounded
until you healed me with your touch.
Jumped off the edge of everything
and fell right into you.

I was young
and so amazed,
back in the good old days.

I pushed you away
wishing you would pull me back.
But somehow
I drifted too far into nothingness.

I never meant to let you down
and slice you deep inside.
I was protecting my own heart
when it was no longer mine.

How do we get back
to young and amazed?
How do we get back
to the good old days?

We loved too fast
or maybe too slow.
But it's the best love
we've ever known.

They say the darkest hour
comes before the light.
No need to be afraid
I'm right here by your side.

Take my hand
and hold it tight.
Don't ever let go
and we'll make it thru the night.
