A waiting love

A waiting love

A Poem by Kat Leila

I think I started loving you a life time ago,

in another life perhaps.

I think I started loving you, before I knew of you.

I felt the calling of your love through the ages.

I had to wait for you, you see.

I had to wait for you because I knew you would come,

like a gentle rain,

like a first snowfall,

like a nighttime moon,

or perhaps like a morning sun.

I waited for you,

and you came.

I didn’t pretend to love anyone else.

My eyes searched for you and they found you.

My ears ached to hear your voice and they heard you.

My arms ached to hold you and they now feel the comfort of your embrace.

My soul sang for yours and you heard it.

I waited for your love, to feel it.

I waited for your love,

and I am loved.

Beautiful poem, Kat! I love how you used similes to compare the wait for your love.

My favorite line has to be "I didn't pretend to love anyone else."

Wonderful work!
