A Poem by Kat Leila

*sigh*

I can barely feel mine beating.
I lay and wonder if I'm alive.
I wait for feeling to return to me,
but the ache becomes more dull,
hardly the wrenching stabbing pain I expected to feel.
I wait to awaken, yet wish to continue to sleep.
I open my eyes and stare at the ceiling, at the eerie shadows the lamp throws.
I slowly strech my body and raise from slumber.
My heart is beating.
A bit slower, like a wounded soldier limping home from battle.
My heart is beating, and that is enough.
