Green Dino Blue

While travelling south with Dino,

Antarctica’s waves had swelled,

Dino became especially seasick,

From the ship we were expelled.

Wobbling like a drunken sailor,

His beefy land-legs were gone,

I tried to console him through,

But he bolted acting withdrawn.

He ran for the snow mountain,

Heck, I didn’t know what I’d do,

Reaching his top running speed,

He soon disappeared from view.

I went back to the camp station,

Where I borrowed a snow sled,

To catch a strong speedy Dino,

Who had scampered far ahead.

Traversing over vast snowy lands,

Green Dino was nowhere in sight.

Until I examined this shore inlet,

And saw my startled Dino upright.

I saw a penguin crowd amassed,

My Dino’s skin transformed blue,

It seemed they were feeding him

Allowing him to gorge on fish too.

On the rocks Emperor’s gathered,

Sheltering from a merciless storm,

Stood my cuddling now blue Dino,

Favoured midst them getting warm.

The herd awed his immense size,

Then he nuzzled his head bowed,

Together endured ruthless winds,

While penguins squawked aloud.

Then clouds parted into sunshine,

They sang waddling for the water,

Blue Dino followed the ice march,

Modeling those penguins saunter.

Reaching the frigid shore waves,

Dino watched as they all dove in,

He couldn’t resist the lively invite,

Cast his powerful armoured tail fin.

A great splash ensued his plunge,

As he sunk below a heavy stone,

Small paws tried flailing to paddle,

Yelping an ballooning eyed groan.

His swift feet bit clawing traction,

Leaping out furious tail waving,

Not looking back for any friends,

Who had hastily been breaching.

Speeding off toward the colony,

Who kindly warmed him before,

He wasn’t expecting icy waters,

To rapid chilling him to his core.

Again he waddled deeper inside,

The interior of Emperors colony,

Where again fed him fresh fish,

Acting part of their clan merrily.

I approached him with my plan,

If he’d come back to the camp,

I’d give some food he’s used to,

A bed plus a warming sunlamp.

He licked my head and smiled,

I knew we had made us a deal,

A cargo plane was leaving south,

We’d board the morning for real.

Shuffling away from new friends,

Who cared for this big Dino blue ,

Turning to see if they’re looking,

He bid them a thunderous adieu.

He had gotten all their attention,

They squawked flapping wings,

Composing their sad goodbyes,

Dino stared at the Emperor kings.

We began our journey to camp,

Prepared my friend a cozy bed,

He curled falling quick to sleep,

I covered him then pet his head.

Next day we’re to board a plane,

Dino unsure of the beast in front,

Disturbed shivering in some fear,

Shouting one deep wailing grunt.

I told him he will be alright now,

Up the ramp you go to your spot,

They’ll be buckling you in tightly,

On this super smooth ride we got.

He waddled high up on that ramp,

His claws clicked on the cold steel,

Dino made it to his large open box,

Ending our zany Antarctica ordeal.
