Another attempt at flash fiction. 20 minutes & a picture (not included for copyright). To set the scene it was a woman in a black evening dress looking out of the window with a cigarette in her hand..

Throwing my shopping bags on the floor I made a dash for the bathroom. Turning on the shower I cursed "Stupid watch!"
It had stopped so I was now an hour behind but with only 20 minutes to go I had to improvise. Spraying perfume in my hair I found a clip and tied it up in a loose yet elegant bun. My express wash in the shower was questionable but necessary.  I pulled on my black dress, found a matching purse then lit a cigarette. Puffing away nervously I reached into my make-up bag smudged something onto my eyes then my cheeks then shamelessly my lips.  
Two minutes and 3 squirts of perfume later I was ready to go but as I stepped into my heels I felt my stomach drop. I lit another cigarette and paced the floor - any minute now I repeated in my head. Fifteen minutes later and there was still no sign. I strolled over to the window and looked out at the life below. My stomach turned again. Lighting up once more I sighed feeling defeated and empty. I lost myself in thought, finally accepting he's not coming - he's chosen her...
