Start my life anew

Start my life anew

A Poem by R.M.C

Wish on a star to take me far
Away to a place I belong;
Can't stand it here, for it's now clear
I won't be happy 'till I've gone.

I may have been born in this place
But I can't get anything right;
I need to find someplace I'll fit
In, so I am leaving tonight.

I search for me, for destiny,
For it's clear I'm not meant to stay;
Though I am late, I chase my fate,
Trusting my feet to lead the way.

Out with the old, in with the new,
Right now I start my life anew.

I can feel a bit of ambivalence here. Even tho the narrator sounds sure that leaving is the right thing, the way the decision is being overly-justified, I get the feeling he/she is trying to talk him/herself into the rightness of this decision. This is very true-to-life for most people making such a decision. Nice rhyming, too.
