For Jaclyn

For Jaclyn

A Poem by RWR

Do you want us to cast our deification upon you ?

Inflict it on you ?

Do you want to be beatified ?

Shall we paint you Classically,

with gold halo;

those perfect doll hands

perfect dolly nails ?

Perhaps you don’t want us to saddle you with this

Cloak you in this kind of weightiness

Perhaps can only be light, ethereal

Unwilling to bear the heaviness of our sorrow

Loving happy, running, free,

Perhaps we hinder you with our consecration

Our canonization of

Our altogether unremarkable Folks
