Because

Because

A Poem by Rachel Joyful

You never think much of yourself,

because no one ever told you to.

And honestly you're just lonely,

but you don't know what to do.

You're scared of the brokenness,

that your heart does hold,

and you feel insignificant,

which makes you fear growing old, alone.

You cry almost everyday,

and you push others away,

because you want your heart to heal,

for just a moment more.

Everyone is mad at you,

because of the things you do.

You never answer the phone,

because you sometimes like to be alone.

You hate making plans,

because you never want to let anyone down,

so you end up just making excuses,

for why you're never around.

And honestly, you're slipping,

into the darkness of the room,

you're pushing yourself away,

because your afraid of being alone.

Everyone gives you that questioning look,

and everyone passes you by,

because they told you over and over,

that they are to weak to even try.

And so, here you sit.

The room is barely lit,

you glance at the clock,

not a minute has gone by,

but here you sit,

you and I.

Because I am you,

and you are me.

Just a lonely one.

And silence is our best friend.
