Witness

Witness

A Poem by Rachel Jane

I’ve been witness to the sacrifice of the poor drop
Of rain.
It immolated its fragile body over the green surface of a leaf
Molecule by molecule.
Its pain was screamed by the echo of every thunder
Again and again.
There were bells in the air announcing its death
Clattering sadly a mourning tinkle.
There is a rainbow in the horizon
Announcing its reborn
Reincarnating its soul into the humidity of another of its sisters.
The nature bows in front of its sacrifice
Bending the shy leaf
To honor the miracle kept in the body of a drop.
