With my eyes wide open...

With my eyes wide open...

A Poem by Radhika Ghose

With my eyes wide open,

I see the smile on my lovers lips

The effect of a thankyou, when recieved by my guard

Expression on my mums face when she's with my dog

my sisters tears when she recieves the "college acceptance envelope"

with my eyes open.

With my eyes wide open

I see my mothers fears when she looks at me

My fathers' masked by silence

The dissapointment etched on every family members face

My reflection in the mirror - of me in a different place

With my eyes wide open

The churning in my brain

pounding of my heart

Thoughts with blood rushing through me

They have no face

Yet they're all I see

With my Eyes Wide Open.

I'm not quite sure what to take from the opposites of the first and second stanzas.
