A Poem by Ranger Nadaly

Comparing is not an option.
If I resigned myself,
To such torture,
Wouldn't it be like suicide?

They're faultless,
Fresh with a scent of vanilla.
Poise yet not elegant.
Provocative yet not sexy.

How could I try,
Try and penetrate their barriers?
The barriers that force thoughts
Of jealousy and competition
Into my once blissful atmosphere.

I continue to give them the satisfaction,
Letting them drain me bloodless.
They aren't better than me-
But aren't they?

They shouldn't be.
Yet I surrender all control to them.
They are important,
They are bright,
They are perfect.

But why the f**k do I care?

We all want to be accepted. We may ask ourselves, why do we care..and yet we do. Perhaps it is human nature. I've learned over the years, that accepting ones self is the first step in feeling accepted. The second step is realizing that no one (even the bright, and important) are perfect. It is the imperfections that are truly beautiful.

Great poem. Quite thought provoking..

Hmm... I see this as a flow of thoughts in relations to group dynamics when it comes to aquaintences and friendships... defined in the loose sense.
The topical vision seems to be one of two basic images. The first conjures a lone flower in a field of flowers of another type. Akin perhaps to the ugly duckling scenario. Then the second image that it brings to me of a syphon, and no matter how high a full glass climbs, the liquid will always flow into that below.

The last line comes across to me as very classic. It makes me scribble the phrase... "Because it's human too..."

Overall the piece makes me think of how we as individuals often find ourselves confronted with the need to be part of something verses the need to maintain our individuality and vitality... Leaving us with the age old question, "When and where is that line?"

Great Ink!
