Rap Crap

Rap Crap

A Poem by Marlon Ferguson
"

...stab at writing rap...

"

Rap can be confusin’

If you’re used to usin’

Everything

Even shiny bling

Is ripe for pickin’

Takes a lickin’

Still be tickin’

After all these years

My hopes and fears

Dashed by society

Called an in-pro-pri-et-y

What do I care?

Ain’t goin’ nowhere

Never swear

On your mother’s grave

Be brave

Brave and true

Try to do

What you were born to do

Never falter

Never alter your intent

Cherish time spent

With your mother

Or your brother

Or another being

Of like mind

Seek and ye shall find

Visions of your own kind

Don’t fall behind

The wake of pop wannabes

Be free

Live to see

Your name up in lights

Right up there

On Time Square

If no one cares

Take a dare

Be there or be square

Don’t be no dope

Learn the ropes

Take your time

Split the rhyme

Do it right tonight

Make it tight

Better think out-of sight

Or say goodnight
