Petty Thoughts

Petty Thoughts

A Poem by Leo Rushman

How can I say anymore than I've said
I've pleaded to you in sacred words
Desolate I am, you're a fixture in my mind
The pain is so numb, being here, missing you
As these thoughts stream through
Cold and abrasive, I'm lost and evasive
Spears of love shed my skin
Wounds so deep I cannot reveal
Tear me down, tear me down, tear me down
Into oblivion, into a beautiful nothingness
A myriad casualty of a sombre reality
Surely we can live and lie,
Surely we can eat and cry
But should I speak to my heart
The words come flowing through.
They speak eloquently to this specious reality
I cannot fathom this insipid existence
I cannot abide this tranquil abeyance
I desire moribund light
I desire carefree love
I desire more than anything
To gaze into your eyes and see mine
To be emancipated through you
To be shook into life
To be soaked by your radiance
I desire to be complete......
