When October Comes

When October Comes

A Poem by Raven Starhawk
"

Another reflection on the greatest miracle to save me from myself.

"
When October comes
I will embrace memories
of dreams and yearnings
as they painted for me
a canvas of hope and chance

Before then existence bared no fruit
for the future
while vicious cycles were basic routine
and people and their stances
proved dangerous

So now I stand new
with the knowledge that change
can save a life
as I am a living example
that birth washes away
the misery of the past
