America

America

A Poem by Raymond Federle

That I cried because she could not.
That I loved because she had none.
That I fought so she'd be free.
That I'd died to be her son.
That my own inherit her.
That they honor in the same.
That my mother America.
Only mother in a name.

I love this simple, yet riveting tribute to America. You hardly ever see poetry written about America in a positive way. It is politically correct to bad-mouth her, so this something which gives me much pleasure. Brainwashing the children of this great county from kindergarten through college is an awful thing to do. They teach them that America is the cause of all the world's troubles. It's not so, but the children grow into adulthood believing that she is.

I'm sorry your friends were lost. Sad.
