Jersey Girl

Jersey Girl

A Chapter by Razvratire
"

Memoir 4: Where I'm From, 2006

"

I’m from dense forest and long gravel roads

Where a gas station and the pub are the city

Where Aerosmith blasts from opened windows

And Abba cradles night drives

Where the hero doesn’t always get the girl

And Xena always saves the day

Where capture the flag builds stealth

And hide and seek takes hours

Where the originals reign

When Godzilla wasn’t the bad guy

And King Kong wasn’t sexually harassing Anne

Where fireflies live in mason jars

And grass tastes like chicken

Where the goal is to be the last one to bed

And the super bowl was second only to church

Where trails were blazed, and wars fought

And the backyard was an empire to defeat

Where the Galactica wasn’t an affair

And there’s not always a kiss at the end of the movie

Where Barbie married G-I-Joe, not Ken

And Kelly wasn’t a mini-w***e

Where hair was always loose and knees always torn

And grass stains matched every outfit

Where Monster truck shows sold out

And Big Foot rode across every t-shirt

From the snake path, and the tree fort

Where second chances were unheard of

And punishments made tears a welcome edition

I'm from insanity, defeat, deceit, & pain,

Where you take it like a man
