The World

The World

A Poem by Darrin Reay
"

What an awful world.

"
I just don't know
what they have against
the world, I sit alone
and I try to make sense.
Of hate, of pain
happening again;
I don't know what I should do.
Too many are dying
and the world wants to run
away from the bullets
and away from the bombs.
Starting to explode
their guns too, reload;
they will show no mercy to you.
Begging for our help
as we just sit back and watch
them crying from fear
as fast bullets, they dodge.
Roaring fires ablaze
destruction in each gaze;
their pain? Oh if we only knew.
They lay in their streets
which they once called home
and the world watches
but they've never felt so alone.
Men, women and children
who make their quick run;
for help from them, me and you.
They start to run away
after their best to fight back
but giving their lives
will not stop the next attack.
By water or by air
they do not care;
the survivors? There's only a few.
The world will mourn
saying, "well what could I do?"
as families bury their own
who were always counting on you.
Their lives destroyed
while you try to avoid;
the blame that can only be put on you.
