The Lake

The Lake

A Poem by Beckie D
"

I have a spiritual connection to water... and so "The Lake" was born.

"
The lake,
Where she bathes
Where she drinks
Where she sit and stares and thinks
The lake.

The woes of endless travel
The insight of the mind
The frivolities of children
Children in the sky

The lake,
Where she feels
Where she tastes
Where she sheds all the hate
The lake.

This poem has to be one of the most simplistic of my collection and I feel as though this poem was born to be simple. There is something succinct about it. Every time I read it, I am reminded of the calming nature of the water element.

You say just enough words to keep me in this one...the repetitive usage of the line:

The lake,
The lake.

seems you try to give an interpretation in a relatively short amount of time...like the 4 lines I read of yours...

As one who loves water myself, I can most definitely see the beauty in the simplicity of this piece. The poem has a certain gentle tranquility to it that represents the peacefulness of a body of water perfectly. Your use of repetition truly worked in your favor.

Incredible description.
