African music always proved to be the wayfarer's respite.

A Legend in Africa

He’s a man dotage fails to scythe his gift,

Three midnights’ verdure doth define his skin,

Yet, the devil his gift doth fail to sift,

He sends his roots too deep, he can’t be hewn.

He sings, wrapped up in ballads, elegies,

Pensive tales of women tongue dissevered,

The stories the Nile can’t tell willingly,

He hums a culture’s unspoken ballad.

Another tune from him the world will hear,

Resuscitating a culture in verse,

He will tell the story of Neria,

Pardon him, his voice you might say is husk.

But please hear him a while nevertheless,

He’s Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi…..
