yester-day

yester-day

A Poem by J. Randall Dodd

when was it that yester-day spoke softly
& smoked the tomorrows he'd rolled into a cigar?

i can't remember when for nothin'.

wrinkl'd, strip'd pajamas & worn out socks,

worn out socks w/ a hole in the toe.
woe is the whole of my dishevel'd existence,

persistence in the practice of slovenly livin'.

livin' slovenly stresses the stress right outta me.

please, help me remember yester-day.
